Farewell
I gave her one last loving peck, Whose rosy cheeks faded into a grayish hue; Death has crept up my doorstep, And whispered to me, her time is due. Oh reaper,hear my pleadings and respond, Won’t you just let her live to see another day? The fiend watched grimly as I sobbed: Of what price are you willing to pay? Money, fame and all your riches, so vulgar and superficial; Life is bound to be full of distress, I cannot let you escape this ordeal. Oh, desperate mortal, your pleas I hear, Amidst the echoes of your anguished cries. But fate's design is not for me to steer, In the realm where mortality lies. Through the tapestry of dreams she finds her way, past grief's relentless tide; A lullaby of solace, one might say, though parted by a chasm, deep and wide: “Don’t weep before my grave tonight, For every man’s destination is within the tomb; It won’t be long before we reunite, Reincarnation completed in nature’s womb.
